On Friday at the Philsports Arena, BARANGAY Ginebra will play NLEX in the Commissioner’s Cup of the 47th season of the Professional Basketball Association.

At 5:45 p.m., the Gin Kings will take on the struggling Road Warriors, hoping to tie with Magnolia for second place in the team rankings. Ginebra’s record of 7-2 is second only to Magnolia’s 7-3. (8-2).

Ginebra enters the game on a five-game victory run, while NLEX has lost five in a row.

Last Sunday, the Kings won a critical game against TNT, 89-85, securing their spot in the quarterfinals and giving them some say over their playoff fate.

Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone acknowledged that the team still has three games to play, including the NLEX game, making it difficult to achieve the twice-to-beat incentive.

Former Alaska player turned NLEX coach Frankie Lim will also be competing against Cone.

My former squad captain is now their coach, and his name is Frankie Lim. For around four years, he led my Alaska team. He is really familiar with me. I’m looking forward to that contest and to finally meeting Frankie in person. A number of years have passed since I last saw Frankie. When he returns, it will be a relief to finally meet him in person. Cone said, “We have a difficult path ahead of us, but we control our fate.”

The Road Warriors’ 25-game losing run came to an end on November 18 when they lost 124-114 against Terrafirma.
